Home of the Potrero Boosters Neighborhood Association & all things Potrero Hill
The field at the Potrero Hill Recreation Center is currently closed for grass renovation, which often suffers from soggy dirt and missing grass patches. The work is supposed to be completed by Feb. 6.
According to the Parks Department,
Starting Monday, January 24th, 2011, park staff will begin grass renovation of the sports field in preparation for the Spring Season. We will be working to improve field conditions and surface quality.
We will aerate the field to address ongoing drainage issues and promote strong grass growth, add additional grass seed to fill bare areas, fill holes, and top-dress the entire outfield. We will strive to keep the field accessible as much as we possibly can, however we have some operations that will require the field to close for several hours for public safety and while active machinery is being used. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may have on field access. We need to act aggressively now while the weather is holding.
Immediately following this work which should be complete within two weeks, the field will look a bit over-worked, but should recover quickly and be vastly improved.
If you have concerns or need more information, please contact Steven Cismowski, Park Services Manager at 415-831-6358 or steven.cismowski@sfgov.org. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve your park experience.
