According to the latest police blotter…
"On January 24th at 1:26 AM, Officers Lustenberger and Perez were patrolling in the area if 18th and Connecticut. They saw a subject walking down the street who was sweating profusely and breathing very hard despite the fact that the night was quite chilly. The officers decided to stop and see if he needed some assistance. He assured them that he was fine and when asked, admitted to being on parole. The officers ran his name through the system to confirm his parole status and were notified by headquarters that the subject had a parole violation warrant for his arrest. When the officers searched the suspect prior to transporting him to the station to confirm the warrant, they found that he had a car stereo tucked into his front waistband. When asked why he had it there, he replied that he always takes the thing with him and carries it around in his waistband like that (doesn’t everyone?). They continued their search and found a GPS device on his person, the holder to the same GPS device in a different pocket, some women’s jewelry in yet another pocket, along with some broken glass fragments, and a screwdriver (that often times is the reason for the broken glass in the first place).
The officers decided to take a stroll in the area to see if maybe, just maybe, they could find a vehicle that the glass in his pocket was once affixed to. It did not take long, as the boosted car was located just a block away. Unfortunately though, it was registered to another city and the officers had no way of getting hold of the owner. They left a note with the case number on the windshield and transported the subject back to Bayview where he was confirmed a parolee at large and booked accordingly. They also booked all of the items found on his person into evidence.
The next day, Inspector Hagen of the Bayview Investigations Team received a call from the owner of the car. She gave him a list of everything missing from the car, right down to the description of every piece of jewelry that was taken. It was a match to every item recovered from the suspect. The victim even came down to the station and identified everything for good measure. Now the suspect, who was booked on his parole warrant only, has several other felony charges to contend with."
