Home of the Potrero Boosters Neighborhood Association & all things Potrero Hill
Captain Greg Suhr himself delivered a police report to kick off the meeting, in his first personal visit to a Boosters meeting in a few months. His deputies typically deliver the report.
Suhr highlighted the anxiety from police departments around the Bay Area, who are preparing for possible civil disobedience from people upset over changes/outcomes in the Johannes Mesherle trial. He is on trial for first-degree murder in the killing, and Suhr explained that a verdict in either direction could leave many upset — as could the judge allowing Mesherle to be tried for lesser crimes, like assault.
Aside from the anxiety of the pending trial, Suhr said the biggest local issue we're seeing in Potrero is a large spike in auto buglaries.
Suhr encourages residents to "hide GPS units or any objects, including FasTrak devices. Guys will break a bunch of windows, then come back later to take things, because charges are smaller if they are considered separate crimes. If they can't see anything inside the car, then that's it."
He encouraged residents to get the Bayview crime newsletter. To do so, email SFPDBayviewStation@sfgov.org to sign up for the semi-weekly newsletter.
Suhr, for the curious, is a lifelong San Franciscan and grandson of the owner of the famous Tadich Grill.
