The Shuttle Study – Tuesday’s Boosters meeting, April 30

As a big wave of development and a population boom come to Potrero Hill and the Mission, and the MTA pushes for parking meters on our sidewalks without improving Muni, the Potrero Boosters have been looking for a way to create better public transportation in our neighborhoods and get cars off the streets. Over the last six months, we've worked with Wendy Silvani—a transportation consultant who designed the Emery-Go-Round shuttle service and now runs the Mission Bay shuttles—to survey residents and businesses and develop ideas for local, neighborhood-serving shuttle buses.

At Tuesday's Boosters meeting, April 30 at 7 pm at the Neighborhood House, Wendy will share her findings with us (How many Hill residents work in the neighborhood and downtown? How many work in Silicon Valley?) and suggest some potential local shuttle routes and funding mechanisms. This project was originally designed as a plan to consolidate the many tech company shuttles in the neighborhood, but even if the tech companies don't come together on this project, there are a number of ways to make a substantial difference in Potrero Hill's public transit!

See what we've found, and tell us what you want, at the Boosters meeting on Tuesday.

Salesforce gives $10 million to District 10

Posted by Evan Goldin on September 17, 2012 at 22:45 0 Comments

Huge news for Potrero Hill, Dogpatch and the Bayview! From the Chronice

The children that Dr. Jamal Harris treats at the Southeast Health Center in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood have often been exposed to violence, drug abuse and sometimes periodic homelessness. Mental health problems may go unaddressed because of the attached stigma.

Now, thanks to a $1.5 million grant from the Salesforce.com Foundation, the public clinic will be the site of a two-year pilot project where up to 1,100 uninsured children can get coordinated physical and mental health treatment to address ailments that have been interfering with them succeeding in school.

The donation to the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation and Southeast Health Center is just part of $10 million in grants the cloud software computing giant’s foundation will announce Monday in a coordinated effort to help transform San Francisco’s troubled southeastern neighborhoods.

The funds will be combined with at least 100,000 volunteer hours from Salesforce.com employees and access to the company’s technology products for nonprofits serving the area.

Mayor Ed Lee said the three-pronged approach “will create true revitalization in our southeastern neighborhoods.”

“I think that’s what’s most transformative about this,” said Supervisor Malia Cohen, who represents District 10 on the city’s southeast side. “They’re not just throwing dollars at a problem. They’re putting people on the ground to implement and usher in the change that we’re all trying to bring in.”

The combined $10 million in grants for nonprofits serving Cohen’s district is the single largest monetary donation the Salesforce.com Foundation has made since it was formed in 1999. The funds are…

New plans for Mission Bay Salesforce office unveiled

Posted by Evan Goldin on January 13, 2012 at 15:51 0 Comments

Salesforce.com's presence as a major economic force in San Francisco will soon be visible in the form of an eye-popping, 14-acre campus in Mission Bay.

Situated in the growing neighborhood around AT&T Park, the online sales software company's eight-building headquarters would sport bold shades of pink, orange and purple and span 2 million square feet.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 workers would stroll through offices, shops, restaurants and child care sites. And farmers' markets, outdoor cafes, artwork and public seating would enliven a series of connected plazas.
