"Cocktail Craft" opening at 18th and Texas

Update: There is no sign of anyone moving in, and the letter to neighbors has been taken down. It seems like Cocktail Craft might not be opening after all.

Hot on the heels of the announcement of Lingba's closure just this month is some good news for anyone who enjoys cocktails or doesn't like vacant storefronts in Potrero.

The storefront of 1299 18th St. — at the corner of 18th and Texas streets — now has a letter to the community plastered on the door, announcing the new shop. The store plans to sell liquers, cocktail ingredients and cocktail-related foodstuffs. They've also applied for a liquor license, and neighbors in close proximity have been notified (and have until Jan 3 to respond). It looks like their web site will be located as cocktailcraft.com as well.

Here's the letter as posted, though apologies for the low quality, I snapped the photo at night.

While there might be other stores that people would rather see (taqueria, bowling alley anyone?), it's great to see new stores sprouting up as others shutter their doors.

Moreover, Potrero continues to be home not to chain retail stores, but to unique shops that both encourage residents to live here to take advantage of the mom-and-pop feel of local shopping and attract residents from other parts of San Francisco. Think Collage or Rickshaw.

Even if cocktails aren't your style, it's great to see this storefront get filled.
