2235 Third St. housing project receives stimulus funding

According to the San Francisco Business times, the housing project going up at 2235 Third St. is in line to receive stimulus funding.

The California Tax Credit Allocation Committee today doled out a pool of $800 million in federal stimulus funds to affordable housing projects across California. Twenty-five local projects throughout the Bay are slated funding totaling $189.85 million.

Of that, the 36-unit 2235 Third St. project will receive $584,917. A small slice of the pie, but helpful jolt to the project.

This money follows previous stimulus funding to remove lead-contaminated soil from the construction site. From CA Department of Toxic Substances Control:
2235 Third Street project calls for two new mixed-use buildings that will be used for both residential and commercial purposes. More than $1.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds will be used to excavate lead-contaminated soil from the property and transport it by truck for off-site disposal at a permitted land fill.
