I just caught up with your note. Definitely right with you on the Potrero being awesome part. I spent a good chunk of Sunday sawing and trimming this enormous tree up on my block (900 WIsconsin), that had grown so huge it was blocking people's views and making the block much safe (because you couldn't see down the sidewalk from the top of the block). It was a ton of fun, and turned into an impromptu block party when we finished. It's been years since I lived somewhere we I knew the names of anyone besides just my immediate next door neighbors. Makes the area feel much friendlier and safer.
Obviously I saw the Goat Hill event, and I'll be sure to send a blast before Feb. 10 to tell everyone on the network about it. I've been going to Potrero Boosters meetings for a while, so I'm well versed in what the SKO board has gone through, but I commend you guys on being so committed to the cause. Sounds like you're through the worst of the rough patch, I hope! You should definitely post your volunteer opportunities here as well.
Also, very excited you're involved with BYOBW! Not sure if you peaked at the photos on the network, but I'm a big fan. I'd love to promote it through the network, and make this a place for people to upload photos after the event (not that many other sites will let you upload full-resolution shots!). Let me know if/how I or people on the network can be of assistance, and hopefully we can do some cross promotion. In any case, I'm really looking forward to 4/4 :)
Good luck at the Potrero Dems meeting tonight, I think you'll be there. I wish I could be, but I made plans to get Pho with some friends in the Inner Richmond weeks ago. If I get back early though, I'll drop in and try to say hi in person!

and OMG thank you for your donation to SKOS! We've had quite an uphill battle since the new board got elected last year, and we're in the process of digging out of a major hole (the last board was relatively inactive for years and we've had to start from scratch financially -- so we've had our hands full since elections last April, right down to reestablishing our 501(c)3 status.) Your donation was much appreciated and celebrated on our mailing list yesterday. :)
I'll definitely let the other members know about the site. We have an event coming up in February at Goat Hill to fundraise, so I'll put up an invitation to that here for sure. Lots going on in the world of the Openspace - we'll be getting a newsletter announcement out soon for some volunteer opportunities too.
Also, I happen to be involved with those wacky kids who bring the Big Wheel races to Vermont Street on Easter Sunday, so if you ever hear anyone around hoping to connect with those folks about that event, I can help.
Thanks for joining the Potrero community site :) I'm excited to have you here. Looks like we're neighbors in fact, I'm just up the hill at 23rd and Wisconsin. How do you like it down on Kansas St? I'm loving Potrero, especially the fact that for the first time in years, I have neighbors whose faces I recognize and whose names I know.
A sincere thank you for your efforts on Starr-King, while I'm saying hi. I just donated money to the organization last night, and I'm hoping this network will help grow awareness of the park and the Board. If you could invite the board to join this network, that would be fantastic.
Hope to see you around the site!
