Do you like fun? Like racing toy cars? Like having fun watching people race toy cars down a windy, steep street? Well then come out to this year's Bring Your Own Big Wheel race.
What: Bring a big wheel (you know, one of those little plastic cars you rode in as a kid), and curve your way down Vermont Street with dozens of others participants. Costumes and knee/elbow pads are, of course, most definitely encouraged.
Who: Hundreds of people will be there just to watch, so even if you're big wheel-less, come on by to have some fun!
When: The race starts at 4 p.m. and will last to about 5:30 or 6 p.m. Where: Vermont Street, between 20th and 22nd in Potrero Hill.
Kids? The first heat is reserved exclusively for kids who want to participate. So if you have a little person who has always wanted to ride the big drop, this is their chance -- just come to the starting line a few minutes before 4 to sign a waiver and get in place.
Street closure: The street will be closed at 20th from 2 PM to 6 PM. Limited reserved parking is available for neighbors who expect to have guests arriving between about 3 and 6 or so--if you are one of those people contact Tom Price.
Help out: If you would like to volunteer to lend a hand at this DIY, all ages, totally free & always unsponsored event, it needs your help! Help is needed during setup, during the race, and conducting crowd education/Leave No Trace efforts at the end. Contact Andie Grace if you'd like to help.
